so 4 years ago today I left work to visit my wife in the hospital. She went into early labor (like really f’in early) but they stopped that and had her on bed rest. I was just hear to say hi before I went home to work on the house. I had promised I’ve finish the vent covers before the girls were born. As I was passing the nurses station they informed me they were prepping my wife for delivery. I told then I was just here for a visit. Not any more. A few hours later, there they were.

I did finally finished the vents.... about week ago. That is the vehicle from their favorite movie currently. Today is also my boss’s birthday. I’m not sure how to acknowledge it beyond happy birthday...

We had the opposite problem when my daughter was born. Seems she wasn’t too anxious to come out and say hello. Held on for three days of labor.

How early were your girls and how long was the hospital stay?

At my job if we find out it’s our coworkers birthday, we tape them up like a mummy, then give them a razor knife after everyone has snapped photos and what not.

If your coworkers are down to tackle your boss & hold him down while the others tape him up, it’s always good for a laugh.

Or, you may just want to ignore it. Birthdays are for kids., as adults it's just a reminder we survived another year without dying.

O man.,... I dont remember the exact numbers but I think my wife was in on bed rest for maybe 6 weeks and the girls were 4 weeks early. They had to go in incubators with oxygen tubes nut never feeding tubes. I think my wife had about a week after delivery and the girls stayed for 2 weeks

Funny how life just randomly says, “Nope” to the best laid plans. My oldest came a bit early, not as early as yours, but early. 3-1/2 years later, and I’ve yet to make the doors and drawers your the custom bathroom vanity I was working on. Maybe this summer? Probably not.

Dang. Glad it all worked out. We had a few years where we were “under-insured” and ended up in serious debt from a series of unfortunate events, some of which the questionable insurance company refused to pay for. It took a long time to recover from that financial blow. Now I keep us over-insured just in case we have one of those big oopsies like you went through. Well, maybe not more kids, but one big car wreck, or fall down the stairs, or goofy kids not paying attention....

insurance is the biggest scan ever. i mean you need it but the companies are all crooks. I work in an office with two people. the insurance costs are thru the roof and orbiting the moon just because we can;t jump on board with 1000 other people in one package

Tell me about it. I had some issues a few years ago which required a series of very expensive scans. The insurance company deemed them unnecessary since there are blood tests that are much less expensive. Problem was that at the time of diagnosis, the blood tests gave false negative results while the scans were positive. The doctor had to call the insurance company every time he needed an updated scan. The last time it happened, the insurance company denied the procedure and denied that they had even spoken to my doctor. I had to call them and threaten to prove he called by pulling phone records from the doctor’s office to get them to finally admit that it was possible the adjuster didn’t log the call into the system. Makes me want to cuss.

Employees in small offices get screwed because they are too small to get the good deal. It’s one of the things that keeps both my wife and I working at large firms. If not for insurance, we would be more willing to take the risk and open a small firm.
